ONA LUKAUSKAITĖ-POŠKIENĖ
O Christ of Sorrows, at the crossroads You and I
Observe the dying light across the land.
Your heart was free, and yet a slave to mob and master
Raised his spear against You on the cross.
You crossed the earth, so much misunderstood,
One day You chanced upon a Lithuanian granary,
Where some wood carver poured his care into your image
And taught You how to love the sad gray fields.
O Christ of Sorrows, at the crossroads You and I
Observe the dying light across the land.
A heart, once liberated, cannot be enslaved;
Let us go and console man in pain and sorrow.
